Privacy Policy

This page explains, in plain language, what information MacKinnonTech actually collects through this website, why, and what you can do about it. It describes real data flows — not a generic template — and is updated if that changes.

Effective date: July 21, 2026Last updated: July 21, 2026
What we collect

Only what you type into a contact or project-request form (name, email, and similar details) — plus basic, non-identifying site-traffic analytics.

Why

To respond to your request, provide a quote or estimate, and understand how the site is used overall.

Who sees it

MacKinnonTech, and the service providers that operate the form and email (Resend) and, if configured, a hosted database (Supabase) — never sold to anyone.

Your choices

You can ask what we have on file, ask us to correct or delete it, or simply not submit a form.

1. Overview

MacKinnonTech (mackinnontech.com) is an owner-operated web development, PC repair, and technology services business run by Jon MacKinnon. This policy covers the public website only. It does not cover information exchanged through separate channels once a project is underway (for example, files or credentials shared directly by email or in person for a specific repair or build) — those are covered by the PC Repair Terms and Website Development Terms.

We collect only what is reasonably needed to respond to you and run the site — we do not build advertising profiles, sell data, or use tracking pixels.

2. Information We Collect

Information you provide directly

When you submit the project request form (on the homepage or the Book page), we collect:

  • Name and email address (required)
  • Phone number, business name, and current website URL (optional fields, where offered)
  • The service you're interested in and, on the homepage form, an optional budget range
  • The project or repair details you write in the message field

A hidden field is used to catch automated spam submissions; it does not collect anything about you and is ignored for real submissions.

Information collected automatically

This site uses Vercel Analytics for basic, aggregate traffic statistics (for example, how many people visited a page). It is designed to operate without cookies and without collecting personally identifying information — see Cookies, analytics & local storage below.

Like most websites, our hosting provider (Vercel) automatically logs basic technical request information (such as IP address and timestamp) as part of normal server operation, for security and reliability purposes. We do not separately review these logs for marketing or profiling.

Information we do not collect

This site does not have file upload, payment processing, account registration, or electronic signature features. We do not ask for — and you should not submit through a normal contact form — Social Security numbers, military identification numbers, government credentials, financial account passwords, or encryption recovery keys.

3. How We Use It

  • To respond to your request and discuss scope, scheduling, and pricing
  • To provide a quote, estimate, or service you asked about
  • To keep a record of the request for MacKinnonTech's own business purposes
  • To detect and prevent spam or abusive form submissions
  • To understand overall site usage through aggregate, non-identifying analytics

We do not use the information you submit for advertising, and we do not sell it.

4. How We Share It

We do not sell personal information. It is shared only with the service providers that help operate the form and deliver the service you requested:

  • Resend — an email delivery service used to send MacKinnonTech a notification when you submit the form.
  • Supabase — a hosted database service used, where configured, to store a record of your submission.
  • Vercel — the hosting provider for this website, and the provider of the cookieless analytics described above.

These providers process information on MacKinnonTech's behalf and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes. We may also disclose information if required by law.

5. Retention

We keep project request information for as long as reasonably needed to respond to you, provide the requested service, and maintain a basic business record — and delete or archive it once it is no longer needed for those purposes.

Internal item:a specific retention period (for example, a fixed number of months after a project closes) has not yet been set. This is tracked in MacKinnonTech's internal legal review and will be reflected here once decided.

6. Security

We use reasonable technical measures to protect information submitted through this site, including secure (HTTPS) transmission, server-side validation, spam filtering, and a database and email provider that MacKinnonTech does not directly expose to the public internet. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

See the credential-handling practices described in the PC Repair Terms for how device passwords and access are handled separately from this website.

7. Cookies, Analytics & Local Storage

This website does not set its own tracking cookies. It uses two forms of client-side technology:

  • Vercel Analytics — a cookieless analytics tool that reports aggregate page-view statistics without using cookies or storing information that identifies you individually.
  • Local storage (theme preference) — if you switch the site's visual theme, that choice is saved in your browser's local storage so it's remembered on your next visit. This stays on your device, is not sent to MacKinnonTech, and is not used for tracking.

Because this site does not use advertising cookies, session-replay tools, or cross-site tracking pixels, we have not implemented a cookie-consent banner. If that changes in the future, this policy and the site's consent controls will be updated together.

8. International Processing

MacKinnonTech operates from Japan and serves customers in Japan and abroad, including members of the U.S. military community. The service providers listed above operate internationally, which means information you submit may be processed on servers outside your home country.

For attorney review:the specific countries where our service providers process and store data, and whether any additional cross-border transfer safeguards are required, have not been independently confirmed and are tracked in MacKinnonTech's internal legal review.

9. Your Choices and Rights

You can:

  • Ask what information we have on file about you
  • Ask us to correct inaccurate information
  • Ask us to delete information we no longer need to retain
  • Simply choose not to submit a form — nothing on this site requires it to browse

To make a request, email jonnathan.mackinnon@mackinnontech.com. We will respond directly; depending on your location, additional formal rights may apply under applicable law.

10. Children

This website and MacKinnonTech's services are directed at businesses and adult consumers, not children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children, and we ask that forms on this site only be submitted by an adult authorized to make the request.

12. Changes to This Policy

If the tools, forms, or data practices described here change, we will update this page and the “Last updated” date above. Material changes will be described clearly rather than buried in a version log.

13. Privacy Contact

For any privacy question, or to make one of the requests described above, contact jonnathan.mackinnon@mackinnontech.com.

MacKinnonTech may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by an updated “Last updated” date above. Questions about this policy, or requests related to your personal information, can be sent to jonnathan.mackinnon@mackinnontech.com.
