Iwakuni Threads
Iwakuni Threads is a client-style demonstration — a fictional local apparel storefront built to show how MacKinnonTech approaches a real e-commerce project, from catalog structure to order handling. It is not a live, paid client engagement.
Local apparel sellers — unit stores, event vendors, small clothing brands — often rely on social-media posts alone, with no real product catalog, no way to filter by category, and no structured way to handle bulk or custom orders.
Goals
- Give customers a real product catalog they can browse and filter by category
- Support color and size selection without a heavyweight commerce platform
- Handle bulk orders (units, events, teams) with a dedicated request flow
- Keep the whole experience fast and mobile-friendly
Strategy
Rather than bolting on a full commerce platform for a store with a modest catalog, the approach was a lightweight, fully custom product browsing experience backed by a structured order-request flow — giving the look and feel of a real storefront without unnecessary platform overhead.
Design Approach
A clean, dark, product-forward layout with category filtering front and center, consistent card-based product presentation, and a bulk-order path that doesn't force every customer through a single rigid checkout flow.
Built with Next.js and React, using custom CSS rather than a UI framework so the storefront could match a distinct brand identity. Category filtering runs client-side for instant response, and the order and bulk-order forms post structured data rather than relying on a generic contact form.
